Code Blue Shelter

ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to a recent incident resulting in guests and volunteers feeling unsafe, as well as property damage to our church, the Code Blue Shelter has been suspended until we can address the issue(s) surrounding volunteer and guest safety. We will post an update once we have a definite path forward.

We operate an Emergency Code Blue Shelter in an effort to house people in extremely cold weather, who may not otherwise have shelter for the evening.

Hours are 9pm - 7am on the nights that the weather meets the following conditions:

32 degrees or below + precipitation

or

the windchill is below 20 degrees

When the forecast meets the above conditions, there will be blue flags placed outside of the Wesley House, Salvation Army, Pittsburg City Hall, and our church (The Door Christian Fellowship Church)

We are looking for volunteers to help with our shelter. If you are able to help, please visit our volunteer page and sign up for a shift.

The idea, is that each volunteer will sign up for a shift, ahead of time in order to ensure the shelter is adequately staffed, prior to announcing that it will be open on a day with severe weather conditions (32 degrees or below + precipitation or Windchill is below 20 degrees). Each volunteer will be reminded/emailed on the day(s) that we are going to be open. Thank you so much for your support!
